Valencia are ready to appoint Miroslav Djukic as their new boss following Ernesto Valverde’s decision to leave. reports that Amadeo Salvo, due to be named new Valencia President on Tuesday, has already reached agreement on a two-year contract with the Serbian, who could be unveiled as early as this week once the club’s new board of directors has been formed. Salvo confirmed Djukic was the first choice to replace Valverde.

“He is the Coach that [director of football] Braulio Vazquez likes best and obviously we will support his decision and try to agree terms,” he said.

“I don’t know Djukic but Braulio’s reasons for his choice are very technical. Djukic is also one of our own, who knows the club and the fans. He is a winner and that is what he comes across as.”

Djukic is a former Valencia player who spent six years at Mestalla between 1997 and 2003, helping Los Che to two consecutive Champions League finals, and last week

told Real Valladolid he would be leaving at the end of the season despite having one year remaining on his contract.

The 47-year-old previously coached the Serbian national team, Partizan Belgrade, Mouscron and Hercules before joining Valladolid in July 2011 and steering them to the top flight in his first season in charge.
