‘A good season for Barca’

Andoni Zubizarreta has reflected on Barcelona’s season, Eric Abidal’s farewell and rumour surrounding Tito Vilanova’s continuation.

Barcelona rounded of their League campaign on Sunday evening with a 4-1 win over Malaga, to equal Real Madrid’s points record of last year of 100 points, as well as set a new club record for goals scored in a League season, now at 115.

“It is a special title for the numbers we have had,” conceded sporting director Zubizarreta to reporters today.

“This League has presented us with many situations. I take in the whole picture, the good and the bad things. If something is to stay with me, then it is when Tito and Abidal returned.

“Abidal’s farewell today? It was very emotional.

“His is a case that will stay inside. These are decisions that are not taken lightly.

“Life occasionally presents these situations, but the integrity of how Abi has been is the best gift.

“Tito’s future? He is the Barcelona Coach for next season. It is what his contract has and we have never looked for a replacement.

“We are going ahead, whilst we know that his situation may involve a bit of adjustment during the season.”
