‘I hope Ancelotti stays with PSG’

One of Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff at Paris Saint-Germain has explained his hope that the Real Madrid target stays beyond this summer.

With Madrid waiting in the wings to have the Italian replace Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu, Ancelotti is seen as pushing for an exit from the Parc des Princes.

“We have talked a little about it.  I understand it without speaking, whilst I hope that everything is resolved as quickly as possible and that everyone ends up happy,” Giovanni Mauri told reporters today.

“Personally I hope he continues working here, but this project will not end until the team wins the Champions League and not just once.

“I only speak on my behalf. I do not know how the relationship is between Carlo and the club’s owner.”

Mauri has worked with Ancelotti as physiotherapist at Parma, Milan and Chelsea before coming to PSG at the end of 2011, but is hoping to stay in Paris even if Ancelotti leaves.

“At work, from time to time, we must be open to change.

“When two people work together for almost 20 years, it is not surprising that each will go their own way. It is not up to me.

“The club is the one that will take the decision. A trainer’s luck is normally connected to that of his Coach. If Carlo goes, his successor may arrive with all his staff, then I may just have to go.

“But my heart is here, I hope to continue winning titles at PSG.”
