Former Barcelona midfielder Edmilson will be one of those entrusted with looking after Neymar when he links up with the Catalans.
The 36-year-old defensive midfielder, who played for Barca between 2004 and 2008 before moving to Villarreal, pointed out to Esports COPE what his role will be as an advisor to his fellow Brazilian.
“I’ll be in Barcelona from September to help Neymar to settle in at first. I’m very friendly with his father and his representative.
“I’ve spoken with [Barca President] Sandro Rosell and explained to Neymar all about the club, Catalonia, and the way in which his new teammates play. I have helped the player’s family and also Barcelona,” he said.
Edmilson revealed that the Santos striker was keen to get his new career at the Camp Nou underway, believing the transition to life in Europe will go smoothly for the 21-year-old.
“Neymar made it clear he wanted to go to Barcelona and he is delighted. He is very excited to be able to play with the best players in the world. I have no doubt he will be a success.”
