Neymar pens Barca deal

Neymar has started the official process of completing his move from Santos to Barcelona, by signing a five-year deal with the Catalans.

The Brazilian was announced over the weekend as having seen his club agree to sell him to Barca for a reported €28m fee.

After playing his final game for Santos that same weekend, the 21-year-old has begun the official process of completing his transfer.

Posting a picture of himself doing so on Twitter, Neymar put pen to paper on the Catalans’ five-year contract offer, which will now be ratified back in Spain.

“Here I close a wonderful passage with a special club,” Neymar wrote on his official account.

“Thanks for everything, for the praise, for everything and I will hold this moment close for all my life.”

Former Barcelona defender Edmilson was also present at the signing, alongside the player’s father and agent Neymar da Silva, futher representative Wagner Ribeiro, Barca director Raul Sanllehi and Santos lawyer Joao Vicente Gazolla.

Edmilson indicated that Neymar could be presented to the Spanish media as soon as Sunday, but the player requires permission to travel from Brazil Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
