Sevilla’s Reyes appeal rejected

Sevilla have had their appeal against Jose Antonio Reyes’ two -game ban rejected, meaning the forward’s season is now over.

Sevilla saw the player sent off as a substitute during last Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Real Sociedad, for his protests to the linesman who had incorrectly ruled out Gary Medel’s second-half equaliser as offside.

The club took the case to the Spanish Football Federation’s Appeals Committee, but have only seen them ratify the Competition Committee’s original decision.

Reyes’ ban rules him out of Sevilla’s concluding League fixtures of the season away at Osasuna and home to Valencia.
