Coentrao: I was never wanted here

Fabio Coentrao has reflected on the negative reception he has had at Real Madrid and hinted that he is leaving this summer.

The Portuguese was signed by Los Blancos in the summer of 2011 for €30m, but has struggled for consistent runs in the first team through the his two years.

For the 25-year-old, it could be a spell set to end this coming transfer window.

“From the first day I do not think I was wanted here,” Coentrao told O Jogo this week.

“Today it seems that everyone wants me to leave Real Madrid. I do not know what I have done wrong.

“We must find a solution that is good for both the club and myself, so that no one will lose out.”

The full-back was asked if he could possibly follow Mourinho to Chelsea.

“If I leave Real Madrid, I do not close the door to anyone.”
