Santos have turned down Barcelona’s latest bid for Brazilian starlet Neymar, pricing the player at €50m.
Barca director Raul Sanllehi is in the South American country this week to conclude negotiations with Santos over a proposed summer transfer for the highly-rated 21-year-old.
Despite reportedly increasing from an initial €14m bid through €17m and up to €20m for Santos’ 55 per cent share in the player’s rights, the Brazilians have turned that down. Other reports place Barca’s highest bid at €22m.
Together with DIS and TEISA, the investment groups that hold Neymar’s remaining 45 per cent ownership, Santos are pushing for a total €50m price for the player.
Negotiations are reportedly continuing with the Catalan club, with that reported valuation pricing Santos’ share of the player at €27.5m.
