Weligton: Time to sell Isco

Weligton has reflected that the time seems to be right for Malaga to sell Isco, provided they ‘do things right’ this time.

Youngster Isco has been linked with a move out of La Rosaleda this summer after an impressive season for the Anchovies, with Manchester City and Real Madrid thought to be in negotiations.

For one of his senior teammates, the advice to the €35m-rated star is to leave in order to grow.

“It is time for the club to sell Isco. At the moment Isco should be at a club greater than Malaga,” considered Weligton to reporters today.

“For his talent and his age, I believe that it is time for him to make the leap.

“I hope the club do the right thing [in selling Isco]. The sale of Cazorla was wrong, if they had done the right thing there then they would have received more money.

“Hopefully that does not happen again with Isco.”

The centre-back was talking to reporters ahead of Malaga’s final home game of the season this Sunday, when they welcome struggling Deportivo to La Rosaleda.

“The entire team is determined to reach the perfect end to what has been an incredible season. We obviously wanted to qualify for the Champions League again, but reaching the Europa League is also a fantastic achievement.

“Sunday’s match against Depor is going to be great, and a real celebration for the fans.

“We’ll give it our all to win this weekend and guarantee sixth place and Europa League qualification.

“We need to keep focused on our objectives, staying in sixth place and getting to the Europa League.

“We can’t concentrate on Deportivo’s fight to stay in the Primera Division, but just ensure we play as well we can.”
