Neymar deal ‘close but not done’

Barcelona sources have reportedly played down reports that a deal to sign Neymar this July has already been reached.

Reports in Brazil surfaced yesterday suggesting that Santos, the Catalans and the 21-year-old had signed an agreement to transfer the player to the Spanish League champions at the conclusion of the Confederations Cup.

However, AS report that sources close to the club have confirmed that whilst a deal with Neymar may be close, it is not yet completed.

Mundo Deportivo believe that director Raul Sanllehi is still negotiating with Santos for their 55 per cent ownership in the player.

It is believed that Barca have upped their offer to €20m, to represent a third bid this week on from €14m and €17m amounts previously put forward.

The Catalans are understood to be keen to purchase the majority share in the player first, believing that talks with DIS and TEISA over the remaining 45 per cent rights will be simpler.

Santos will reportedly hold a board meeting today to determine a decision on Neymar’s sale.
