Mourinho, Ronaldo banned for two

Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo have both been handed two-game suspensions, apparently applicable in the Copa del Rey or FA Cup.

The Portuguese duo were both given their marching orders during Real Madrid’s extra-time Copa del Rey Final defeat to Atletico Madrid last Friday.

Mourinho, who was dismissed by referee Carlos Clos Gomez for taking his protestations too far, has been banned for two games, but this does not include League games.

Whilst the Coach is leaving Madrid at the end of the season, AS say that the suspension for Cup competitions will follow him abroad.

Speculated as returning to Chelsea this summer, it is understood that Mourinho will therefore be banned from the Blues’ first two FA Cup games of the 2013-14 campaign.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is also available for Madrid’s closing League encounters with Real Sociedad and Osasuna, with his two game suspension to be served in the Copa del Rey next season, should he still be on the books at Madrid.

The 28-year-old’s ban is split one game for accumulation of yellow cards, having been booked earlier on during Friday’s game and another for the straight red he later received.
