‘Ancelotti something else entirely’

Javi Moreno has given the inside line on what working with Real Madrid’s targeted Coach Carlo Ancelotti is like.

Despite difficulties, Madrid are seen as pushing to bring the Italian Coach in at the Santiago Bernabeu to replace the outgoing Jose Mourinho.

Moreno was at Milan when Ancelotti was brought in during the 2001-02 season and reflected this week on what he would bring to Madrid this summer.

“He's very close to his players and is a good person. He's a very calm, well-mannered Coach, a peacekeeper – he's not the type to get hot under the collar,” commented the former striker to Marca this week.

“Carlo doesn't have an ego anything like Mourinho's. I'm completely against Mourinho's style, but Ancelotti is something else entirely.

“I always had a clear idea of my role at Milan. Of course I was frustrated at not getting a regular run in the team, but I never had any problem with Ancelotti.

“He is a very tactically minded Coach. He drilled the team very thoroughly and was really shrewd about the way he set up the players on the pitch.

“He would be able to adapt to the demands of Spanish football. Obviously his style will be different to the one he used over 10 years ago in Italy.

“Ancelotti has proven what he is capable of at Milan and PSG, dealing with dressing rooms full of players who are as good, if not better, than the ones at Real Madrid.”
