Following on from Real Sociedad confirming that Philippe Montanier is leaving them, Rennes have made official his signing for next season.
The Frenchman was confirmed by La Real this morning as having turned down an offer of a new contract and that he would be leaving Anoeta in the summer.
Even with the Basque Country side on the verge of Champions League qualification, speculation was that Montanier had received a better offer to manage Rennes next season.
This afternoon has now seen the Ligue 1 side release a brief statement confirming the capture of the 48-year-old and his assistant Coach Michel Troin from the start of 2013-14.
“Philippe Montanier, the current Coach of Real Sociedad, accompanied by his deputy Michel Troin, will succeed Frederic Antonetti as Coach of Stade Rennais. They will join the group from Monday July 1,” read Rennes’ statement posted on their official website on Tuesday afternoon.
