Lugano hopes for perfect finale

Diego Lugano hopes that Malaga can begin to end the season ‘in the perfect way’ with a win in their final home match of the League campaign.

Malaga host Deportivo this coming Sunday evening in a final match at La Rosaleda for 2012-13, a season that has brought Champions League football and a fight for European qualification in La Liga.

“It’s our last home game of the season, and we’re coming to the end of what’s been an incredible year for the city and the club,” considered Lugano to reporters today.

“We can end the season in the perfect way with a win on Sunday, and we’re all determined not to lose this last home game in front of all our fans.

“We need to be prepared for a difficult match against a team fighting relegation, to ensure we qualify for Europe.”

Lugano was January reinforcement signed on loan for six months from Paris Saint-Germain.

“When I arrived, the team was in the middle of a fantastic season.  Every player wants the chance to play as much as possible, but that’s the name of the game, and I’ve always tried to be prepared to help the team as much as possible. 

“I can’t complain whatsoever, I’ve played 11 matches this season and have been in high-intensity training nearly every day. 

“I had some physical problems over a few months, but I recovered and got back to work as soon as I could.

“My future? Malaga are within the main focus of my priorities in the future, but obviously this will depend on the contract terms. 

“Everything appears to indicate that I should return to Paris, but a lot can happen in football. It’d be wonderful to stay here.”
