‘Malaga need to cut costs’

Julio Baptista has reflected that ‘Malaga are in trouble’ and that any offer from reportedly interested Internacional will be considered by him.

The Brazilian has been part of a Malaga side this season hit with financial uncertainty off of the field thanks to owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani’s withdrawal of funding.

And in considering the reported direction that the club intend to take next year, the Brazilian striker has commented that his future is likely to be elsewhere.

“Malaga has a different mentality for next year. The club is in trouble and needs to cut costs by getting rid of some players,” Baptista told Globoesporte today.

“Nobody has spoken to me, but if there is interest then I will sit down with my agent and consider it.

“[Apparently interested] Internacional are a strong team, they have just become champions. The good work of Dunga is not surprising.

“They are a club that appreciates his record. He is a great Coach, with projection forwards to improve.”
