Stuani: ‘Life or death’ at Riazor

Christian Stuani has reflected on weekend opponents Deportivo’s need for the three points against his Espanyol outfit.

Los Pericos travel out to Riazor this Sunday afternoon already assured of at least a mid-table finish, but hosts Depor in need of a win to try and close the two-point gap to safety.

“The game at the Riazor will be very hard, it will be one of life or death for Deportivo, who need the points like bread,” commented Stuani, who turned down an offer from the Galicians in the summer to sign with Espanyol.

“But, we will also want the points to try and push for European qualification.

“We must address this game with great importance and we hope to play a great game, although we are aware that Deportivo have a great team and fans that support them so much.

“To get the good result last weekend against Real Madrid [1-1] gives us comfort and reflects what we have done through the season.

“We needed a game like that to give optimism to the fans. But now that is over, now we must focus on winning this weekend.”
