Platini: Don’t blame me, Malaga

UEFA President Michel Platini has said that Malaga’s potential one-year ban from European competition is not his call to make.

The Costa del Sol outfit are currently awaiting the verdict of an appeal case against UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body, for an initial punishment handed to them in December.

Malaga face the prospect of a ban from the next European club competition they would otherwise qualify for inside the next four years, something that they have protested is unjust.

The governing body’s President has made clear that such complaints should not be directed to him.

“The disciplinary commission has imposed a severe penalty. It is they and not I who decide, yet everyone is attacking me,” complained Platini to reporters today.

“In any case, if my destiny is to be the target of others…”
