Barca make move for Neymar

Barcelona are reportedly keen to round off negotiations for Santos’ Neymar in the coming days, as a club director travels out to Brazil.

The Catalans are understood to have sent Raul Sanllehi out to South America this week to close negotiations with Santos and their 21-year-old forward over a proposed transfer this summer.

Mundo Deportivo report that whilst Barca do not see this as an easy task, they are optimistic that negotiations may be concluded within a week.

Having already reported to have paid a €10m deposit on Neymar to reach a pre-contract agreement, talks this week are apparently focused on the total fee La Blaugrana will pay, with the player seen as keen to conclude the deal for this transfer window.

Barca are reportedly prepared to pay as much as €60m in total for the Brazilian international, to his club and two investment funds that hold part ownership, but they are looking to take that down to at least €50m.

Real Madrid’s apparent late interest, which includes a reported total spend of over €100m to break Barca’s pre-contract agreement, hand the player a better contract of €10m a year and pay as much as €80m in a transfer fee, is seen as having raised Santos’ hopes of raising an improved bid from the Camp Nou outfit.
