Albiol: Draw was a fair result

Raul Albiol has conceded that 'the draw was fair' as Real Madrid could only claim a point away to Espanyol.

Christian Stuani's first goal was cancelled out by Gonzalo Higuain after the break, but the defender admitted it was the right result, whilst also commenting on Raphael Varane's injury and next week's Copa del Rey final with Atletico Madrid.

“We wanted to win, but Espanyol were better in the first half and also scored a goal,” he told the club's official website.

“In the second we dominated more and the draw is the fair result in the end. We have dropped points at lots of places away from home.

“We have to think about Atletico and now we have to prepare ourselves because on Friday we can win a major title for the fans and the team.

The Coach, like us, wants to win that title. It was a disappointment not to be playing in the Champions League final, but what we have to do now is win on Friday.

It is unfortunate for that to have happened to a teammate, whether it was Raphael or another. I could be me or one of my teammates who replaces him, so we must train well and be ready for if the coach decides that we are playing.”
