Mourinho has Madrid masterplan

Jose Mourinho’s recent series of inflammatory Press conferences is reportedly part of a final chance the Coach is giving Real Madrid to keep him.

Speculation through the season has been that the Portuguese is leaving in the summer, amid poor working relationships with figures at the club, including in recent months Iker Casillas.

Following on from hitting out at continued criticism of his refusal to play the goalkeeper and at Pepe for stating that the 31-year-old deserves more respect, Mourinho has also commented that his future may indeed lie elsewhere from the summer.

However, a report in AS today suggests that it is also part of a wider strategy from Mourinho to present to Madrid all the problems that he sees, with the determination that the club may resolve to fix them and in turn retain his services for next year.

“Jose is doing what he needs to do to clean the cancers from this club,” the report quotes a source close to Mourinho as saying.

“He is laying everything out in the open and letting Madrid make a decision – Do they want to fix what has held them back year after year, or do they want to continue as they are with individuals who believe they are more important than the club?”

The club have taken the step of cancelling today’s otherwise expected Press conference in a reported attempt to avoid more controversy.
