La Real plan US preseason

Real Sociedad are reportedly planning between a North America and Asian preseason tour, depending on sponsorship and European qualification.

Philippe Montanier’s side are understood to have not yet drawn up a final preseason schedule until their League position is confirmed, in light of how it could change their commitments.

Currently sitting in fourth, a finish there or in sixth place would push La Real into qualifying rounds of the Champions League or Europa League, which both begin in mid-August. However, a finish of fifth would see a later start, thanks to automatic qualification for the Europa League group stages.

The club are set to begin preseason on July 1, with a first friendly played at their training base of Arresate, before commencing with a tour.

The Basques are understood to have lined up a trip to the United States, to take in fixtures in Philadelphia, Monterrey and either Los Angeles or Miami.

However, Mundo Deportivo believe that this could be scrapped in favour of a tour of Asia, if a deal with event sponsorship can be reached.
