Contrasting Neymar reports

Neymar is reported to have told teammates at Santos that he is moving across to Europe this summer, but is quoted in France as stating the opposite.

The 21-year-old Barcelona and Real Madrid target has been increasingly linked with a move to Europe and specifically to one of La Liga’s top two teams for the past couple of years.

Speculation has mixed in recent weeks between Barca following through on an alleged €10m pre-contract agreement with a further €40m deal, Madrid buying him out of that agreement for a total spend of as much as €100m and the player happy to just stay in Brazil ahead of the 2014 World Cup in the country.

However, Mundo Deportivo are running the line today that the forward has informed Santos teammates that he will not be returning to the club after the 2013 Confederations Cup with Brazil.

At the same time, Le Monde are running quotes from the Brazilian indicating that he will stay with his Brazilian employers until at least the World Cup.

“I will not leave Santos before the World Cup in Brazil next year,” the French publication quote the forward as saying this week.

“The World Cup is my primary objective, it is a wonderful moment in Brazil.”
