‘Be grateful for Barca’s players’

Dani Alves has reflected that Barcelona should celebrate their League title when it is confirmed and that fans should be grateful for the players in the team.

Recent assessment in the media has been that following on from the Catalans’ 7-0 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, changes in the summer are expected at the Camp Nou.

However, in seeing his side move to within a point of winning the League this weekend, Alves believes otherwise.

“We need to be grateful for this group of players, they have dazzled the world with their football,” he told reporters afterwards.

“I don’t think we need to change the team too much. If the club believes it necessary to bring in new players, we would be in agreement with that decision.

“There is no such thing as the past in football, we have to live in the moment.

“The players and the fans have to celebrate the title. We’re competing against a great team, and we’ve managed to beat them.”
