Rosell: We’ll evaluate Barca

Barcelona President Sandro Rosell says he will wait until the end of the season to draw assessments on possible changes made to the team.

The Catalans were humbled 3-0 in Wednesday night’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich to account for an aggregate defeat of 7-0.

“The first thing I need to do is congratulate Bayern, they were clearly the superior side in the tie and they deserve to go to Wembley,” commented Rosell afterwards.

“The 7-0 scoreline flatters them, but that should take nothing away from recognising that they deserved to go through.

“I believe this Bayern are the strongest team in Europe and they have a good chance of winning the final.

“We’ll evaluate at the end of the season. What we have to do now it support the players and stand by their side until the end of the season.

“Once the season comes to an end there will be time to make decisions. We have to focus on La Liga, we haven’t won it yet. We have to work towards achieving this goal.

“I'd like to congratulate the players and the coaching staff, whom we're very proud of. Barcelona has proven that we are good winners and good losers.

We never complain about referees, though it's true we haven't been very lucky on that count this year.”

Rosell was also asked of the fact that Lionel Messi was benched for the game due to issues with a leg injury.

“If the best player in the world isn’t on the pitch, it’s noticeable. If the coaching staff decided that he shouldn’t play, it was a purely technical decision. Nothing else to say.”
