Malaga’s sporting director Mario Husillos has reflected that Malaga’s immediate future depends on Manuel Pellegrini staying for next season.
The Chilean has attracted reported interest from abroad for taking the financially unstable club to the Champions League quarter-finals, with reports this week that his agent was talking with Manchester City.
“He is a top Coach and highly valued. It will be hard for him to stay but we are working with that idea,” commented Husillos to ESPN this week.
“Manuel looks more to the project than the economic aspect. For me, he is the best Coach in the world.
“The commitment from Manuel to Malaga was important last summer as it came in a very delicate situation, and he has led the team to a position that Malaga have never been in.
“The key to the immediate future of Malaga is whether or not we can count on Pellegrini.”
