Report: Malaga to sack Husillos

Malaga owner Sheikh Al-Thani reportedly wants sporting director Mario Husillos sacked but the club’s upper management haven’t yet complied.

AS says that the owners are keen to make changes at Malaga as the club struggles at the start of the season, and one of the decisions taken is to remove Husillos [pictured second from left, above] and some of the club’s upper management.

Director General Vicente Casado has though not gone ahead with removing Husillos and AS says that if Al Thani wants the Argentine out, he’ll have to do it himself.

The situation is ‘a volcano,’ AS writes, and Malaga are, according to the report, ‘in the middle of a serious institutional crisis.’

Casado would prefer to give support to Husillos and help the sporting director’s work, but Al Thani is expected in Malaga in the coming days and is likely to remove Husillos then.

Replacements are being considered and leading the pack is Francesc Arnau, the former Malaga goalkeeper currently working with the club’s academy.
