‘Deportivo can do better’

Fernando Vazquez was happy with Deportivo’s draw at Real Betis, but commented that the team ‘can still do better’ in their fight against relegation.

The Galicians are now just a point above the relegation zone after Week 33’s results, thanks to their 1-1 draw at the Benito Villamarin on Monday night.

“There is no choice but to put value to the point. We started the game well, we competed well throughout the game but in different phases,” surmised Vazquez post-match.

“We were better in the rifst half. Then we had a player wit problems in the second half, which led to a lower performance.

“But in the last few minutes we were improved and with a little more determination I had the feeling that we could have scored the second goal.

“Six games unbeaten for our season is wonderful. We have not seen the highest level of this team, we can do better, we can play better in defence.

“We had a lot of concentration and tension from minute one, but we can still do better. I’m happy with the performance of individual players, but at a collective level there are things to improve.”
