‘Lewandowski at Ronaldo’s level’

Felipe Santana has enthused at Robert Lewandowski’s performance this week, citing it as proof he is at the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Borussia Dortmund striker netted all four of his team’s goals in their 4-1 Champions League semi-final first leg win over Real Madrid.

Lewandowski’s teammate took it as proof that La Liga would be no problem for the Polish international.

“Lewandowski would fit in at Barcelona, he has great quality, plays nicely with his feet, protects the ball well,” Santana told La Xarxa this week.

“He does not have the same visibility as Cristiano Ronaldo, but he is at the same level.

“Now he has shown the world his quality and he is one of the best strikers in Europe.”

Santana also believes that Barca can overcome their 4-0 first leg defeat to Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

“Barca can overcome their first leg defeat to Bayern. Barca and Madrid have the best players in the world.

“We’re talking about Messi and a team that has been the base of the Spanish team. And the return leg will be played in Barcelona.”

And the defender warned his colleagues that Madrid may also prove dangerous next week.

“I’m happy for the win. We have more than the one chance of getting to the final. We will do everything to get to be at Wembley.

“But, Madrid is a super team that has players like Ronaldo, Di Maria and Kaka, so we must stay focused.”
