Pedro Morales has tagged every remaining game this season as ‘like a final’ for Malaga in their hunt for Champions League qualification.
The Anchovies are now on the back foot in their attempt to finish in the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot in La Liga, thanks to recent defeats to direct rivals Real Sociedad and Valencia.
However, with those two playing each other this weekend, Morales senses an opportunity for the Costa del Sol outfit in hosting Getafe.
“On Sunday we’ve got a very important home game, and Real Sociedad and Valencia are also going to be playing, so we need to win and take advantage of this situation,” Morales told reporters this week.
“Each of the upcoming games are like finals. We’ll play a large, decisive part of this campaign in the last stretch.
“The team has been high up the table all season and mathematically it is possible to get into the Champions League.
“We’re aware that with the Valencia defeat it has gotten a bit tougher but with Manuel Pellegrini and the quality of the players we can once again be a team within Europe.”
