Jimenez to stay until June

Real Zaragoza will reportedly stick with Coach Manolo Jimenez until at least the end of the season as they do not want to pay out compensation.

Jimenez was given the board’s backing only last week via an official statement, as the team dropped into the relegation zone after a dismal run of form.

However, with that winless streak in 2013 continuing into Week 32’s defeat at Celta Vigo, which saw the team drop to 20th in the table, speculation has since been that the club may yield the axe.

Marca believe, though, that club are unwilling and unable to pay out compensation that would be due to Jimenez, whilst the Coach is also seen as not interested in negotiating down any money due.

The former Sevilla boss signed a three-year deal with the Aragonese outfit last summer and it is understood that regardless, he will continue on the bench until at least the end of the season.

The board, who are seen as having no confidence in Jimenez to reverse the situation, do have a release clause in his contract that they can activate at the end of every campaign.
