Reus optimistic for Dortmund

Marco Reus believes that there is no reason to think that Borussia Dortmund’s ‘success story will not continue’ against Real Madrid this week.

The Germans head into their Champions League semi-final first leg as the tournament’s only undefeated team remaining this season, but as underdogs to make the final at Wembley.

“I am very optimistic about the game, that’s the truth. My feeling is very positive,” Reus told Marca today.

“We have won the last four games we have played and are still unbeaten in the Champions League. No team has won yet!

“So there is no reason to doubt Borussia and to think that this success story will not continue. But of course we have great respect for Real Madrid, they are a great team.

“To play in a Champions League Final would be a dream I have had since childhood. I watched them on the television and wow, they were awesome games. But playing in this semi-final against Real Madrid is also a dream.

“Much depends on how you are on the day, you never know how you will be. I hope we live up to the expectations of the fans. There will be a lot of noise at the Iduna Park. The atmosphere will be amazing.”

Reus comes up against international colleague Mesut Ozil in the Madrid line-up.

“Yes, for me Ozil is one of the best players in the world. He delights fans with his incredible moves and ideas.

“I know him well from the national team, he is a very funny guy. I like to play with him and he gives me a few laughs when we are with Germany.

“But hey, in this case I have to say that we’re going to be really tough (laughs).”
