Madrid President wanted Llorente

Florentino Perez reportedly told Juventus officials this week that Real Madrid were keen on signing Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao.

Llorente was linked with both Madrid and Barcelona before agreeing in January to a summer Bosman switch to Turin this coming July.

At last week’s announcement of the ‘Classic Match’ between Madrid and Juve legends for this summer, the club President reportedly discussed possible transfer targets with the Bianconeri.

Tuttosport say that where he asked after Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, the Italians mentioned interest in Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain.

“Really are you looking for a forward? Already you have signed one that is very strong, Llorente,” Perez is alleged to have quipped.

“He is very good, I’m sure he is going to score a lot and he will do well in the Champions League.

“I also liked him but our policy does not allow us to go for a player from another team in the League.”
