Ramos: I’d have been sent off!

Sergio Ramos took exception to Athletic Bilbao’s physical approach during Real Madrid’s 3-0 win on Sunday evening.

The defender was caught notably by Ander Iturraspe during Sunday evening’s game, but was not carded, much to Ramos’ displeasure.

“We know the opponent and know that they like to break up the play. They did it with Julen Guerreo and Urzaiz and they are still the same,” surmised Ramos post-match.

“We knew we would come up against an opponent that was good and in the second half they were at a high level.

“I’m not complaining. This is a man’s sport and there is contact and it is up to the referee to put in a little order.

“Now, had Pepe or I made one that tackle I was on the end of, we would have seen red. Against us it looks different.

“Look how they’ve gone in on me, you could see it differently the third or fourth time it happens.

“You have to let the controversy pass you by and as a player I can tell you that personally I've always liked this stadium from an individual and a team point of view.”
