‘Neymar will end Messi-dependence’

The agent that usually works with Barcelona on transfers in South America has assured that Neymar’s possible arrival would end over-reliance on Lionel Messi.

Andre Cury, who is reported as the man that Barca usually use in negotiations for any moves made in South America, spoke to Radio Globo this week about the continued links surrounding Santos star Neymar.

“He is top of the wish list for planned signings and our players are aware of this,” commented Cury.

“At Barcelona we do not usually sign many players, and he is our first choice. When he decides to leave Santos, we will be ready.

“We want Neymar, if need be we’ll wait till after the World Cup. But, if possible, we will start negotiations this summer. Messi, Xavi and Iniesta are already awaiting him with open arms.

“Neymar coming to Barcelona will put an end to two types of overdependence – first the ‘Neymar-dependence’ at Santos, as he would have left, and also the ‘Messi-dependence’ at Barcelona, as we would then have another player at his level.

“In two or three years it could be that Messi will be able to pass on the Barcelona baton to Neymar, just like Ronaldinho passed it to him.

“Of course, that happened in a way that we would not have liked – Ronnie left the club and we would have liked him to have stayed.”
