A report in Spain suggests that Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Amorebieta has agreed to join Fulham in the summer and on a reduced salary.
The centre-back was confirmed earlier in the season to have had a five-year, €1.8m-a-season contract offer withdrawn by Athletic, for refusing to sign it within an allotted period of time.
Basque publication Voz Populi believe that Amorebieta, whose current deal expires on June 30, has now agreed terms with Premier League outfit Fulham.
Seen to have been asking for a higher wage during the failed negotiations with Athletic, it is understood that the 28-year-old has agreed to move to the London side for ‘significantly lower wage’ than the €1.8m tabled by Athletic.
The defender is believed to have had a British agency handle his negotiations with Fulham, cutting out the agent he had used for talks with Athletic this term.
