‘We’ve beaten Madrid already’

Jurgen Klopp reflected that at least Borussia Dortmund can take heart from having already beaten Champions League opponents Real Madrid this season.

The Germans are paired with the Spanish for the semi-finals of the tournament, after today’s draw, to follow on from their Group D meetings earlier in the competition.

Dortmund defeated Madrid in Germany and picked up a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, which their Coach was quick to remember on hearing today’s news.

“I’m happy to finally know which team we are going up against,” Klopp told reporters.

“I don’t need to stress the fact that Real Madrid will be a tough opponent.

“But they are the only team that was left in the draw whom we’ve managed to beat this season already.”
