Roura: We are proud of Barca

Jordi Roura commented on the Coaches’ pride at Barcelona’s players for overcoming Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.

A 1-1 result booked La Blaugrana’s place in the Champions League semi-finals on aggregate, although the Catalans were made to struggle.

“We are very happy and proud of our team. Tonight's game was very difficult – we were playing against a great side.

“We went into the match with a lot of players missing but we showed the necessary class to achieve our objective.

“We're very pleased and, again, proud to be through to the semi-finals and for having overcome PSG.

“The game was very complicated. PSG have a great team. If we weren’t on our game during periods of the match it’s because our rival played well.

“Our ambition doesn’t stop here, we will fight as hard as we can in the semi-finals to reach the final, and win it.”

Lionel Messi came off the bench to aid Barca’s fight back into the game and was involved in the build-up before Pedro Rodriguez’ equaliser.

“We had thought about his involvement. We knew that he could play a determined amount of time and if the result wasn’t favourable, he would play.

“He was part of the play leading up to Pedro’s goal this evening and from that point on he let off a bit

“We had an agreement with Lionel Messi and in the end this was put into practice. He is such an important player and his mere presence proved the key. He demonstrated that competitive ambition and hunger he has.

“Besides Leo, all of the players played at a very high level. When faced with adversity they have the necessary perseverance to carry on and achieve these types of comebacks.”

Barca are now in the semi-final draw for Friday alongside Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

“When you get to the semi-finals of a European competition, the best four teams are there so I don't have any preferences in Friday's draw. Whoever we get, it is going to be very tricky to advance.”
