FIFA place Spain first again

Spain hold on to the top spot in the FIFA World Rankings for another month, following their recent win over France.

FIFA have released the latest month’s international team rankings and show that La Roja, who defeated Les Bleus and drew with Finland in World Cup qualifying in the last month, have maintained their No 1 spot ahead of Germany and Argentina in second and third.

The results leave Spain in first in the world for a 51st month from the last 59.

Notable movers in the top positions in the rankings have Ecuador, set to face Spain in August, into the top 10 for the first time in their history, whilst Confederations Cup opponents Nigeria drop out of the top 30.

Confederations Cup and World Cup hosts Brazil, meanwhile, have dropped to a lowest ever ranking of 19th.
