Godin booking appeal successful

The Competition Committee have annulled Diego Godin’s second yellow card picked up at the weekend, so his suspension for Week 31 is lifted.

The defender was given his marching orders on Sunday evening away to Getafe for picking up two bookings, but Atleti launched an appeal arguing that the second yellow was awarded in error.

The Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee have agreed and today confirmed that they have wiped that booking.

The decision means that the player is now available for selection for Atleti for this coming weekend against Granada.

Godin's first booking of the game at Getafe, however, still stands.
