Hamit Altintop believes that Galatasaray saw both the good and bad sides to Real Madrid over the course of their quarter-final clash.
Gala were eliminated 5-3 on aggregate, with last week’s 3-0 win to Madrid followed up by a dramatic 3-2 win to the Turks on Tuesday evening.
“The 3-0 in the first game was actually really hard on us. But all in all, over the two games, the cleverer team won and we can only congratulate them,” reflected former Madrid man Altintop.
“In this game, we did what we couldn't achieve in the first leg, which was to score a goal. After we scored, we got a lift and with our fantastic fans behind us, who knows what might have been possible.
“Madrid are tough opponents – they can score at any time, out of the blue, but at the same time they can play really badly, as they did today when they came close to throwing it all away.”
