Xavi: We know we’re favourites

Xavi Hernandez has conceded that Barcelona are aware of their advantage heading into Wednesday’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Catalans host the French this midweek in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final with two away goals, after last week’s first leg 2-2 draw.

“We are optimistic, because we're playing at home and we know we're the favourites, but PSG has a great team. It is no minnow, but rather a big club,” Xavi told UEFA’s official website in anticpation of the match.

“We’re upbeat about the first leg, because we drew 2-2 away from home.

“But looking back at the game, we’re left with a sour taste in our mouth, because we went 2-1 up in virtually the 90th minute and then they equalised with the last attack of the game.

“It was unfortunate, but it wasn't a bad result – it was a good one.”

Barca are without a number of regular players in defence.

“We're struggling with a lot of injuries at the back. Puyol has had surgery, Abidal is coming back from an extremely long and serious illness, Adriano's injured, and now Mascherano is too…

“But we have enough quality in the squad to replace them.”
