Gala appeal Yilmaz booking

Galatasaray have confirmed that they have contacted UEFA to have Burak Yilmaz’ yellow card against Real Madrid annulled.

The striker was booked in the second half of Gala’s Champions League quarter-final first leg 3-0 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu for simulation.

Replays, however, showed that the player fell under contact from Sergio Ramos, who stood on his foot.

Sporting director Sedat Dogan has confirmed that he has spoken to UEFA in an attempt to have the decision overturned.

“Burak has done nothing wrong, he has not dived,” Dogan told reporters today.

“He has fallen in the area because Ramos stepped on him and we think that this is not a yellow card and that it should be removed.

“We have called UEFA and I think that we will have news as soon as possible.”

If the decision was overturned, it would mean that the striker would be available for the second leg this Tuesday, when otherwise he is suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards.
