AFE: Players do pay tax!

The Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) has hit back over remarks from a Spanish politician that footballers need to sort out their taxes.

Minister of Finance and Public Administration Cristobal Montoro commented earlier this week that the country’s footballers need to be ‘reminded’ to ‘get right’ their debts with the Hacienda (tax office).

However, the AFE, whose President is Luis Rubiales [pictured], have quickly responded, via a brief statement released through their official Twitter account.

“Mr Montoro, the players comply with the Tax Administration Agency (AEAT),” read the posting.

“It is you that should be fine with the players.

“There is nothing that needs to be met.”
