Hagi: Madrid are favourites

Former Real Madrid and Galatasaray midfielder Gheorghe Hagi believes that Los Blancos will come out on top in their Champions League quarter-final.

Madrid host Galatasaray in the first leg this evening, before travelling out to Turkey next week.

“Madrid are the favourites, no doubt. They are in a good run of form, are very strong and will fight to win the Champions League,” commented Hagi today in anticipation.

“They are hard and a fast team, very strong, but also creative. They are disciplined, organised and have a winning mentality in every minute.

“Madrid or Barca to win the competition? I have a broken heart. I’ve played with both and it was an honour to be a part of the history of both these clubs.

“If I could sign one player from both clubs, Cristiano and Messi.”

The 48-year-old was asked for comment on the continued speculation surrounding the relationship between Jose Mourinho and Iker Casillas. The goalkeeper has yet to be included in a matchday squad since returning to full training.

“Of course I wonder. I do not want to get involved when it comes to a Coach as great as him and the best goalkeeper in the world. But Iker has to be involved.

“Since he began at the club he has been in the team. He is the best.”
