Alonso hopes for Mourinho stay

Xabi Alonso has reflected that he hopes to see Jose Mourinho still in charge of Real Madrid come the start of next season.

The Coach has increasingly been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu come the summer, in light of a difficult third year with Los Blancos on and off the pitch.

However, his midfielder Alonso is hopeful that the Portuguese will continue to fulfil his contract with Madrid that runs until June 2016.

“I know he loves the Premier League and its atmosphere, and the way the game is played in England,” mused Alonso to The Times of India this week.

“He will go back to England one day, he said so himself. But I believe and hope that he is with us next season.

“He is a very good manager. The way he transmits his ideas, communicates with players is different. He understands his players and you want to win for him.”

The midfielder then turned his attention to teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who has also been linked with a departure this coming summer.

“He is an amazing player. It is very different to play with him than against him. I am lucky to say he is on my side. He is in terrific form and he is looking forward to helping us win more trophies.

“His goals do the talking about his ability, but it is also his work ethic that is incredible. He is very special.”
