Joaquin Sanchez believes that a Malaga at ‘200 per cent’ will be able to push past Borussia Dortmund and into the Champions League semi-finals.
The Anchovies, in their debut campaign in the premier competition, face the Germans this Wednesday in the first leg of their quarter-final.
“We need to ensure we focus on ourselves, as we know we work well together as a team,” Joaquin enthused to reporters this week.
“If we can concentrate on being the superior side, then we’re capable of anything.
“It’s important to play with character and personality against these big teams, but we most certainly haven’t had the last word at La Rosaleda.
“Malaga are a firm candidate to get even further in this competition. Imposing our ideas and philosophy during matches is the reason we’ve got so far.
“We need to be an aggressive team, and take the initiative. We’re here because we’ve shown that we’re a great team, and we completely believe that we can go further in the competition.
“We’re full of excitement and anticipation, and we’ll give it 200 per cent on Wednesday.
“The fans? Spectacular. We really can’t thank the fans enough for all their support. They’ve been so loyal, supporting the team for years, and to see the excitement generated around us, regardless of the result, is absolutely incredible.”
