Ibra: Barca the best ever

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in no doubt as to the task that Paris Saint-Germain face against Barcelona in the Champions League tonight.

PSG host the first leg of this last eight meeting as the underdogs to progress against one of the Swede’s former teams.

“This a very complicated match against one of the best teams in the world,” Ibrahimovic reflected in his pre-match address.

“Barca are probably the best team at the moment and the best of all time. It will be difficult because they will have ball possession, but we will also try to have the ball because we are at home.

“It is easy to speak about it here, but it is difficult to do it in the field. The Coach will guide us tomorrow. But I think both teams’ chances of going through are equal.

“We’re very excited, we’re in the quarter-finals and it’s going to be a great match. It’s difficult to play against players that know each other so well and we can’t compare this tie to last season’s against Milan.”

Ibra was asked of Lionel Messi’s prominence in the game right now.

“Today, Messi is the best player in the world. The Ballon d’Or should be carry his name, he’s going to win many more of them. He continues to be the best because he continues to break records.

“Is he the best player in the history of the sport? It’s difficult to say. When he retires it will be easier to answer that question.”

The Swede has never won the Champions League despite having played for a number of Europe’s elite teams.

“I’ve evolved, now I’m the type of player that I wanted to be 10 years ago. I’m 31 and I started playing in the Champions League 10 years ago. I enjoy football a lot more now than I used to, I have a lot of experience.”
