Mallorca ‘cannot lower its arms’

Gregorio Manzano has iterated that Mallorca cannot give up their fight against relegation because of defeat to Deportivo.

The Balearic Island side fell to a 3-2 home loss on Sunday evening to 20th place Depor, to leave them three points adrift of Zaragoza in 17th.

“The result is painful, but we cannot lower our arms, we must continue,” commented Manzano after the defeat.

“In the most anticipated match we did not play the game we wanted to for many reasons. We wanted to give joy to our fans, who have been great, but we lacked continuity in our play, we were intermittent and lacked the balance that we normally have.

“It was a good early lead that we took, but after that we lacked control, especially between the second and third goals for Deportivo.

“There was confusion and the team again failed to get into the game, the lines were disconnected, no passes were correct nor was the speed of our play.

“The defeat is painful but it is nothing more than that, a defeat. The reality is that we are three points below the safety zone and Zaragoza, and we are all in, hence we are doing what we can.”
