Roura: We weren’t thinking of Paris

Barcelona assistant Jordi Roura has insisted that his side did not have one eye on the Champions League as they drew with Celta Vigo.

The Blaugrana were held to a 2-2 draw by the Celestes on Saturday evening, but the 45-year-old has claimed that his team always knew the difficulty of the game.

“We knew this could happen,” he told a Press conference. “We dominated the second half, but this is football. We realised the difficulty of this match.

“Today we have given everything, but it was not possible [to win]. Tuesday is an important game [against Paris Saint-Germain], but we did not have our heads in Paris.

“Despite the importance of the game, we were not thinking about it.”

Roura then commented on Lionel Messi, who in netting created a new record of scoring in 19 consecutive games.

“The fact that no one has done this before shows the importance of the record.

“We have to enjoy Messi every day. Perhaps, at the moment, we are not aware of his greatness.”
