Martino pushes for Roura stay

Tata Martino is reportedly pushing that Barcelona keep hold of Jordi Roura and other members of coaching staff previously under Tito Vilanova.

In Vilanova’s midsummer exit from the Catalan outfit due to ill health, Martino was brought in as Coach and, whilst bringing in two regular assistants, also inherited his predecessor’s coaching staff.

AS report that Barca are now looking to reduce the number of Coaches on the club’s staff and find new roles for the likes of Roura, who served as Vilanova’s assistant and took over for periods of last season during the Coach’s treatment for cancer in New York.

However, it is reported that Martino is keen to keep hold of the 46-year-old and others in the coaching set-up, for valuing their comparatively greater knowledge and experience of Spanish football and Barca’s opponents each week.
